Other Projects

This home had been converted to a duplex. In the process, the handrail, balusters, and newel post had been thrown away. Additionally, the stair treads were cut narrower and left with a ragged edge.

All had to be recreated.

During the demolition phase it was discovered that this was a kit home from the 1920’s. Newman Construction’s name and assembly numbers were discovered on the underside of the old treads. Those treads were repurposed for the unique seat and boot storage adjacent to the stairway with the markings visible on the inside.

The opening between the stairway and the living room was greatly enlarged. That included structural work, rerouting of HVAC ducts, and milling new jambs, casing, and trim to match existing.
