Just Old Houses is a one man show. JohnDana is semi-retired and committed to spending his remaining working years serving families who truly love their old houses.

JohnDana has a BSME specializing in machine design. He owned and operated a firm custom designing and building manufacturing equipment for industry throughout Iowa.

Due to the manufacturing recession of 2001 the business closed as the manufacturing base in Iowa was significantly outsourced and off-shored.

After much consideration, JohnDana concluded “you have to be here to pound the nail”. Work in old houses could not be outsourced to foreign countries. He found a mentor and began to learn the skills necessary to produce quality work in homes built prior to WWII.

And now, as the hair grows gray, he is focusing his efforts on historic doors and windows, providing homeowners a knowledgeable, trustworthy, professional, and kind resource to care for and maintain their beloved homes.
