Recreating a special craftsman style entry door.

In the 70’s the original craftsman style door was replaced with a slab from Payless Cashways (the tag was still on the top).

The homeowners searched for years to find a replacement. The two panes and two sidelight configuration is unusual in the craftsman style.

It was decided a new door would be built from scratch. The sidelights, casing, and jambs were refinished to match the completed door.

Here, the solid core is visible with edge banding being applied.

A vacuum press was employed to glue the face veneer in place. Note, the veneer is 3/8” thick.
